Alfred University's "Memories of Alfred" - Fraternities and Sororities
Fraternities and sororities is a chapter from a film entitled “Memories of Alfred,” which is a compilation of 16mm and 35mm amateur movies taken from the early 1930s through the late 1950s by cinematographers, W. Varick Nevins III ’32 and Huber S. Watson ’41. They have provided us with a comprehensive and enduring record of student life in Alfred during a very special time.

Students involved in HEOP (Higher Education Opportunity Program) at Alfred University are strong advocates for the program. Several of them took time before leaving campus this spring to talk about their experiences.

Nadine Shardlow explains that opportunity program leaders at Alfred University sometimes stand outside classrooms to check student attendance. If necessary, they go to residence halls to motivate absent students to get up and go to class.
